Salary Information: Annual Minimum Salary-$58,400-Annual Maximum Salary-$93,400

Hiring Range: $28.08-$36.49

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.

General Summary:

The School of Dental Medicine Assistant Director for Academic Affairs supports the SDM Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in development, administration, and management of the School of Dental Medicine academic program, Commission on Dental Accreditation reporting and documentation, academic scheduling, curricular and programmatic design and assessment, and other academic-related services for the pre-doctoral education program in Dentistry. The Assistant Director will help lead the academic undergraduate dental mission of PNWU. The position requires an individual who can provide academic and professional leadership within the school, university, and community. The Assistant Director will have a direct reporting line to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Assistant Director will work with the SDM Associate Deans to ensure a seamless and integrated clinical education continuum.

Essential Job Functions:

• 1. Provides oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Office of Clinical Affairs, including:

a. Entering, organizing and supervising the collection, documentation, monitoring, and reporting of academic data and student educational records utlilizing the Acuity Insight One45 system.

b. Reporting student progress in completing prerequisites for graduation.

c. Preparing accreditation reports pertaining to curriculum assessment and management.

d. Coordinates faculty exam development and administration with the PNWU Office of Student Assessment.

e. Assists students requiring academic support services and coordinates with the PNWU Office of Student Affairs as needed.

f. Coordinates academic and clinical schedules with the Office of Clinical Affairs and the PNWU COM.

• 2. Assists in the development and execution of the academic program to include strategy and planning related to improvement of the academic program.

• 3. Maintains and updates the SDM Competency Assessment and Management Plan, and provides reports to relevant committees, etc.

• 4. Provides onboarding and training/calibration instruction of students and faculty related to academic affairs.

• 5. Responsible for recording minutes and maintains records of all academic-related committees and meetings.

• 6. Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.

Requirements:

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

• Required: 4-6 years working in higher education

• Preferred: Experience as a dental assistant or dental hygienist

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of academic procedures and practices and accreditation standards relating to the dental profession; strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) and ability to learn additional software platforms to assist with monitoring student progress, scheduling in person and virtual activities/meetings, and developing presentations; skills for problem solving, attention to detail, organizing and performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; ability to collect, interpret and present data and identify inconsistencies and inaccuracies in documents and processes, and make corrections as required; ability to work effectively on teams; ability to develop initiatives and options for overcoming challenges; demonstrated skill in independent decision making; and demonstrated ethical and professional behavior sufficient to effectively work in an academic unit.
