Work Schedule:
Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel, evening and weekend work are required. Must be available and willing to work non-traditional hours as needed.
General Description:
The Associate Director of Admission provides leadership, supervision and training to the Office of Admission staff responsible for recruitment, admission, and enrollment of first-year students. This role is also responsible for meeting individual recruitment goals and contributing to the overall recruiting goals of the admission team and office. Reports to the Director of Undergraduate Admission.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction, motivation, evaluation, and support to a large and diverse staff of admission counselors responsible for first-year student recruitment, admission, and enrollment.
  • Assist the Director in the establishment of annual and ongoing recruitment goals, strategies, and tactics for all first-year recruitment territories and admission representatives.
  • Direct the annual hiring and training process of new first-year admission staff.
  • Provide semi-annual performance reviews for first-year admission counselors.
  • Coordinate recruitment travel planning for admission staff including college fairs, high school visits, and various recruitment activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of semi-annual staff retreats and training.
  • Consult with the Director regarding the planning, implementation, and review of all campus visit activities.
  • Articulate the university message to prospective students, families, high school counselors, alumni, pastors, and community members.
  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan for an assigned geographic territory that includes generating and reviewing admission applications, a communication plan, meeting with students and their families during campus visits, and representing the university at a variety of functions.
  • Plan and implement approximately 4-6 weeks of travel in the fall and 1-2 weeks of travel in the spring.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in our Client Resource Management (CRM) system (Slate by Technolutions).
  • Represent the university at professional conferences and events.
  • Manage selected student recruitment programs and special projects as assigned by the Director.
  • Provide Financial Aid counseling and advising for incoming first-year students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible job-related experience preferably in admission and/or higher education.
  • Valid driver’s license (Must have had a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years).
  • Finalist applicants must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks, including a driving abstract check, and pass PLU’s internal Driver’s Certification Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience of student and/or professional staff.
  • Experience with Slate or another CRM.
