Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team. As a Guidance Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to students, helping them navigate through academic, personal, and social challenges. You will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure the overall well-being and success of our students.

Position: High School Guidance Counselor (11 month position)

We are seeking a passionate and student-centered counselor who will support the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students and families. The High School Guidance Counselor is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting students, teachers, and administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between students, teachers, parents, and Student Services about students’ emotional, social, behavioral, and academic supports needed.
  • Provide short-term counseling to students and referrals for long-term support.
  • Help students develop personal, social, and academic skills.
  • Help students develop and practice strategies to manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills.
  • Provide both in-classroom and out-of-classroom support to students individually and in small groups.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and behavioral climate of the school.
  • Get to know students and their unique needs to offer specialized solutions.
  • Member of the Student Services Team as we work together to provide a wrap-around approach to supporting students and families.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate interventions and support
  • Update and maintain confidential student records and conference notes
  • Assist with standardized testing administered at Pace Brantley Preparatory School (MAP, PSAT, and ACT)
  • Work with teachers to develop Student Education Plans to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities
  • Create master class schedule for high school along with student schedules to ensure our high school students are fulfilling all of the required credits in the state of Florida

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field
  • Preferred: Three or more years of related experience
  • Possess the ability to handle multiple tasks throughout the school day
  • Exhibits professionalism in a way that reflects positively on Pace Brantley Preparatory School
