Job Description: Elementary School Teacher (Grades K-6)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated elementary school teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background and a commitment to fostering a love for learning in young students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in elementary education, including coursework in teaching reading at the K-6 level, OR
  • Bachelor's or higher degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours in elementary education, covering the following areas: a. Courses in teaching reading in grades K-6, including:
  • Understanding the reading process and effective reading instruction
  • Recognition and assessment of reading problems
  • Prescription and utilization of appropriate methods and materials to increase reading performance b. Courses in each of the following areas:
  • Content and methods for teaching writing and language arts in grades K-6
  • Content and methods for teaching science for grades K-6
  • Content and methods for teaching social science for grades K-6
  • Content and methods for teaching mathematics for grades K-6
  • Materials for use in grades K-6, such as children's literature, multi-media materials, library materials, and the computer as an instructional tool

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and district standards
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and development
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, and provide timely feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress
