Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company, a PACCAR Company, has a position available for a Product Option Analyst, in the Peterbilt Headquarters Office in Denton, TX. This position is primarily responsible for evaluating Option Approval Requests (OAR’s) for disposition, offering alternate suggestions as appropriate, and training dealers to use DealerNet product related self-help tools.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Review and manage Option Approval Requests (OARs) to determine resolution, with a focus on successfully directing dealers to existing product options that satisfy customer business requirements.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly OAR Committee Meetings to help expedite the review process and resolve any outstanding issues. The meetings will have representatives from various departments, including engineering group leads, Applications Engineering, Scheduling, Materials and Sales and Marketing.
  • Provide training and truck configuration assistance to Peterbilt and dealer sales professionals through the use of product related self-help tools.
  • Administrate sales option code reviews to determine option publication versus elimination based on defined criteria.
  • Provide sales option code data usage and status to various levels of Peterbilt Management.
  • Assist with the development and administration of Truck Sales Bulletins (TSBs) which requires coordination with engineering, ECN reviews and compatibility message research.
  • Assist in testing software prior to each SmartSpec Sales Tool version release to ensure accuracy. Testing including:
    • Ensure functionality of current and new project requirements.
    • Starting specification testing
    • Certification testing
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Peterbilt's Sales and Engineering departments, Scheduling, ITD and other PACCAR Divisions.
  • Various other projects as assigned.

Skills / Competencies

This position requires the following:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities
  • Solid product knowledge (truck models, option offerings, compatibility rules, product features and benefits)
  • Ability to interact and coordinate with multiple departments and personnel on diverse topics
  • Strong managerial skills (innovate, plan, organize, direct, control)
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Must have the ability to translate technical engineering terminology into a concise industry language to satisfy customer business requirements.
  • Ability to maintain composure
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Well versed on computer mainframe systems and PC applications (OPS, COPICS, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with other PC applications a plus (OMS, PCMS, SharePoint)
  • 2-3 Years product knowledge experience in a related PACCAR position preferred
  • Writing samples may be requested.
  • Education – Bachelor's degree required
