    POSITION GOAL:Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
    • Assign and grade class work and homework; prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
    • Prepare for assigned classes, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors; prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
    • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
    • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, and social development.
    • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
    • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
    • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
    • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
    • Meet with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators: to discuss specific children's progress, to determine resource needs and priorities for the child(ren), and to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems.
    • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs.
    • Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
    • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
    • Administer standardized ability and achievement tests, and interpret results to determine students' strengths and areas of need.
    • Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
    • Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Pennsylvania Secondary Teaching Certification in subject area of assignment.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
    • Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
    • Well organized with good time management skills.
    • Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
    • Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
    • Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • 190 days, 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
    • Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association.
    • Bachelor's Degree starting $56,000; Master's Degree starting $61,000; Final salary determined by education and experience.
