Job Summary________________________________________________________________
The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, is primarily responsible for preparing and processing the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Banking transactions. This position is also responsible for fielding inquiries and delivering an elevated level of customer service to internal and external customers.

Roles & Responsibilities_______________________________________________________

Accounts Payable

  • Facilitate the submission and payment of invoices including verifying accuracy of vendor information, reviewing invoices for coding, and entering in our financial system.
  • Prepare payment documents, print checks, and maintain and process electronic fund transfers.
  • Collect WIRE/ACH information and initiate funds transfers within the banking system.
  • Maintain accuracy and monthly reconciliation of select AP accounts.

Payroll

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including salary, benefits, and deduction calculations.
  • Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper maintenance of HRIS data.

Accounts Receivable

  • Maintain AR records and ensure timely and accurate application of cash receipts.
  • Monitor and update the event system with AR activity.
  • Maintain accuracy and monthly reconciliation of select AR accounts.

Banking

  • Maintain daily bank transaction records to ensure all debits and credits are properly recorded.
  • Monitor credit card activity and process voids/refunds as required in the credit card system.
  • Research and respond to chargeback transactions.

General Duties

  • Respond to diverse accounting-related inquiries and help/clarification to Overture staff, vendors, and other outside contacts.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot connection between accounting software and ticketing system. Post daily ticket sales activity and record contribution entries.
  • Identify, propose, document, facilitate implementation, and monitor operations of accounting procedures related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, and document/file archives.
  • Embraces and participates in the advancement of the JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion) mission and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including assisting with routine and ad hoc projects such as the annual audit and other yearly reporting requirements.

Qualifications________________________________________________________________

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business or equivalent in education and related experience.
  • 1-2 years’ relevant training and/or experience. Non-profit and/or payroll experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of general bookkeeping principles and accounting clerical terminology, practices, and procedures, and skill in their interpretation and application.
  • Ability to operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other office software.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to independently work with third-party stakeholders and across the organization.

  • Primarily perform work in an office environment
  • Frequently move around the building and access or use computers, office equipment, telephone, and any other pertinent supplies, space, or equipment used to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and telephone.
