As a Barista you will educate customers on our drink and food menu by making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have basic knowledge on how brewing equipment operates and how to properly prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea. All while keeping the customer as a top priority with service and attentiveness.
Essential Job Functions
· Complies with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total certification, tip disbursement, cash drawer, and house bank management
· Balances house bank at the end of the shift
· Have knowledge of daily events, meetings and other hotel activities that can best services our guests
· Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
· Memorizing, preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones
· Preparing and serving any food items such as, but not limited to, soups, sandwiches and pastries
· Answering customers’ questions about menu choices
· Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
· Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
· Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized
· Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
· Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
· Properly inventory and keep supplies replenished to minimize downtime
· Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu item
Skills and Qualifications
· Basic math skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing
· Being able to provide conflict resolution while providing empathy to a customer’s emotions and perspective
· Listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner
· Focus on customer satisfaction
· Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling hot beverages
· Willingness to collaborate with direct manager and coworkers
· Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
· Knowledge of sanitation regulations
· Ability to operate a keyboard and a POS system
· Ability to sit or stand, and work continually in a confined space
Educational/Experience Requirements
· High school diploma
· Prior hospitality and relevant training is preferred
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.
