Outlier Events Group is Hiring a Director of Events Near Kalamazoo, MI

WHAT ORGANIZATION WILL YOU WORK FOR?
One of the top summer collegiate teams in the country, the Kalamazoo Growlers and its renowned special events company Outlier Events. 
Outlier Events puts on numerous events throughout the country each year. Outlier Events hosts mostly food festivals such as Donut and Beer Fest, Michigan’s Mac and Cheese Festival, Taco and Tequila Fest, Tots & Taps Festival and many more. Numerous other events such as concerts and community events are being planned in the coming years.
The baseball team consistently finishes in the top 6 in attendance in the country each year as has recently been ranked the #2 ballpark in the country. Over the years the team is known for its outrageous promotions including our 6-year old Manager "Coach Drake", 2014's Ballpark Digest's Promotion of the year "Salute to Selfie Night" and more.
DIRECTOR OF EVENTS - Outlier Events
This role will manage all aspects of events for Outlier Events. Reports directly to Brian Colopy, Managing Partner of the Company, and the scope of work will be routinely reviewed. 
A events intern will report directly to this position and require guidance and oversight from the Director of Live Events and Operational Efficiency. 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all special events for Outlier Events. Events include Donut and Beer Fest, Mac and Cheese Festivals in numerous states, Taco and Tequila Festival, Tots & Taps Festival and more
  • The position will also support as needed events and games with the Kalamazoo Growlers, and Battle Creek Battle Jacks baseball teams. 
  • Manage budgets, logistics, staffing and any additional responsibilities that arise with each specific event.
  • Create budgets and expense reports for each event. Oversee cash flow, checks, staffing expenses and more to manage and oversee all aspects of each event.
  • Make calls, set meetings, and present proposals with promoters, potential sponsors, vendors and more to ensure each event is maximized in regards to attendees, sponsors, and overall revenue.
  • Work with stadiums, event sites and other venues to lock in agreements to put on events in key geographic areas and cities.
  • Submit required paperwork and forms to local and state agencies to ensure proper insurance, approvals and more.
  • Work with front office staff to ensure timely and complete execution of all contractual elements for each event and/or sponsorship.
  • Oversee marketing plan, press releases, media interviews, and strategic marketing partnerships for each event to maximize brand recognition and event revenue. 
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for each special event. This requires contacting local non-profit organizations to work each event to raise funds for their cause. This also requires training and oversight before each event along with in person trainings at the event.
  • Create new revenue streams for the teams through the use of ballparks outside of the team’s standard baseball operations through special events large and small. 
  • Network and prospect for potential leads with new event concepts, new markets for existing/new events, and outside events to bring to the ballpark.
  • Assist in developing long term strategies for special events and the overall profitability.
  • Establish rapport and develop relationships with clients to ensure meaningful long-term relationships.
  • Provide educational experience and guidance on projects for Interns.
