The Head of Purchasingis responsible for overseeing efficiency, accuracy, quality assurance and timeliness with product purchasing supporting all internal business units and customers. Our supply chain comprises international factories in multiple countries. This individual directs a team of employees responsible for the day-to-day purchasing, planning and importation of product, directly interacts with factory partners and internal cross-functional teams, and is responsible for directing the QC team on standards, process improvement, corrective action, and factory communication.
The ideal candidate for this position is an organized, adaptable and a proven leader, possessing the ability to drive excellence in the department while equally fostering retention and career growth for employees. Cross-cultural relationship building is an essential skill required for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the product purchasing process and activities for the company.
  • Oversee the QC team with regards to processes, corrective actions, resolution, and communication, both internally and with our factories.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with overseas partners, maintaining a strong line of communication and resolution processes.
  • Communicates effectively across the organization to ensure key stakeholders are updated with business critical information consistently.
  • Strategically plan and implement continuous process improvement or procedure enhancements.
  • Work with multiple cross functional teams to drive process improvement upstream and avoid delays and rework at time of delivery.
  • Empower teams to hold factories accountable to meeting ship dates and quality specs, as well as guiding the team to keep information correct and current in ERP by pro-actively tracking open PO’s and reviewing QC data with standardized reports.

Maintains awareness of all cost centers, including factory, royalty, commission, inventory and operational cost-to-serve. Develops pricing and promotional strategies that contribute to Outdoor Cap’s financial goals. Effectively communicates plans, projections, and results across the organization, and provides thoughtful narrative on contributing factors.}

Education and Qualifications*

  • Education College Degree or Requisite Experience in Supply Chain Field, Preferred
  • Experience 3 years’ experience in Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain; 3 years Leadership
  • Computer Skills Office 365 Proficient, ERP (i.e. Exenta) preferred

Physical Requirements*

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend, and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
