Shelter Care is a looking for a Youth Care Specialist to work directly with youth to meet their basic needs and be a positive role model in their lives. Shelter Care has a team approach to supporting youth & one another, by working with 2 to 4 other staff each shift. Youth Care Specialists interact with youth daily, transporting to school, making meals together, learning a new board game, playing sports & going out in the community to do an activity. Working at Shelter Care will allow you to engage with and mentor teenagers, gain experience in child welfare and mental health fields, and grow as a professional in a team setting.
Under general direction of the Supervisor; the Youth Care Specialist performs work involving the care and custody of juveniles, assuring a safe, secure environment, providing positive influence, and preparing and maintaining related logs and reports. They also focus on the individualized needs of youth and caregivers currently served within the Youth & Family Services Division.
