Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, in Essex, Maryland has an opening for a full-time Upper School Social Studies Teacher for next school year. As the only PreK-12 Catholic school in Baltimore County, Our Lady of Mount Carmel has been educating young people in mind, body, and spirit since 1927. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about current instructional strategies, ability to create student-centered learning environments, and teach across the Social Studies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide grade appropriate instructional program for students in grades 9 through 12
• Integrates technology in lessons
• Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment
• Uses data to create differentiated learning experiences
• Provides grade-appropriate extended or enrichment opportunities
• Uses relevant technology to support/enhance instruction including one-on-one devices such as Chromebooks, tablets, and interactive whiteboards.
• Maintains appropriate control through positive discipline techniques
• Provides regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration
• Advise students in extracurricular and cocurricular activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in History and Social Sciences
• MSDE teacher certification in Secondary Education for social studies or willingness to obtain.
• Must be proficient in using a variety of technology during daily lessons as well as to enrich and differentiate instruction
• Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal fingerprint background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, and completion of all necessary paperwork.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
