Full Time

1. Treat all students, staff, parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience.
2. Assist teacher in:
A. Maintaining classroom organization
B. Providing support in an inclusion setting
C. Reinforcing previously taught concepts as prescribed by the teacher in an individual or small group setting
D. Preparing teaching materials, performing clerical responsibilities and making bulletin boards under teacher direction.
3. Perform and maintain behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher (including corrective action with physically aggressive students).
4. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.
5. Maintain confidentiality of information about students.
6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
7. Participate in community outings including use of the Oshkosh Public Transportation System.
8. Assist with the personal care/self help skills:
A. Feeding
B. Diapering and toileting
C. Hygiene - washing, nose wiping, etc.
D. Dressing
9. Transfer, lift, and position students into standers, walkers, wheelchairs etc. as trained/directed by the therapists and/or teacher.
10.Assist with Augmentative Communication/Assistive Technology (including assisting students with computer programs).
11.Work with, direct and provide input back to the teacher when working with student teachers, volunteers, field experience students, and substitute teachers.
12.Assist specialists - art, music, phy-ed, media and speech,occupational and physical therapists.
13.Supervise and assist with bus loading and unloading and possible transfer of students.
14.Administer medications in accordance with school district policy.
15.Supervise students during lunch periods.

1. High School diploma or its equivalent.
2. Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept. of Public Inst. Special Education Aid License
3. Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) techniques or willingness to learn the techniques.
4. Current CPR and First Aid Training certification or commitment to obtain such upon employment.
5. Trained or willingness to be trained in Autism.
6. Ability to interact effectively with parents, students, staff, and others encountered on the job.
7. Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
8. Ability to perform basic language, writing, and computational skills.
9. Ability to staff the position for the scheduled work day.
10. Ability to work in an environment that may require demands involving physical interaction with students; within the parameters of state statutes.
11. Basic computer literacy and/or willing to expand skills.
12. In lieu of the above qualifications, the district may consider appropriate alternatives.
