QUALIFICATIONS1. Associates Degree in Nursing or LPN Diploma from an accredited college or university.2. Current LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license3. Holds a current CPR and First Aid Training certification or commitment to obtain such upon employment.4. Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept. of Public Inst. #883 Handicapped Children’s Aide license.5. Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.6. Ability to staff the position for the scheduled work day.7. Ability to perform basic language, writing, computational skills, and enter health data in the student information system.8. Must be able to successfully pass physical requirements analysis.9. Possesses demonstrated ability to adapt readily to new work settings and a changing staff and student population.10. Demonstrated ability to follow directives delegated by the School Nurse (RN) and to initiate and engage in productive work-related activities with minimal supervision.11. Ability to interact effectively with parents, students, staff, and others encountered on the job.12. Cognizant of current therapeutic goals in the management of diabetic children or willingness to be trained.13. Experience in communicable disease control including concepts of Blood Borne Pathogens.14. In lieu of the above, the district may consider appropriate alternatives to the above qualifications.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Follow current specific guidelines in the student’s individual health plan.2. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.3. Assist with management of student’s health care under the supervision and delegation of the registered nurse.4. Function within the limits of health assistant/instructional assistant responsibilities as delegated and supervised by professional school nursing staff, teachers and administrators.5. Treat all students, staff, parents, and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience.6. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff according to HIPPA and FERPA standards.7. Operate and care for instructional equipment/medical equipment.8. Perform other assigned treatments in accordance with the specific guidelines of care for students.9. Monitor health issues for students during noon hour, on bus rides, or during fieldtrips if needed.10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES1. May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement.2. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be determined by the administrative staff within parameters of the employee handbook, Board of Education policies, state statutes and administrative rules.
