Osceola Science Charter School is Hiring a Teacher, Middle School (Computer Science) Near Kissimmee, FL

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team. As a Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students. You will develop and implement lesson plans, provide individualized instruction, and assess student progress.

Grades:

6-9

In this role, you will:

Develop and Deliver Engaging Curriculum:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive computer science curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
  • Create differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, fostering a love for computer science exploration.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in computer science and integrate them into your teaching.
  • Utilize a variety of engaging teaching methods, including hands-on activities, project-based learning, and technology integration.
  • Foster a Dynamic Learning Environment:
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and collaborating effectively.
  • Employ effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and computational thinking skills.

Assessment and Differentiation:

  • Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide personalized support and differentiated instruction to ensure all students succeed.
  • Foster a growth mindset that embraces challenges and encourages continuous learning.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school administrators regarding student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a cohesive and effective computer science program.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay abreast of educational trends.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A strong understanding of Computer science curriculum standards.
  • Solid knowledge of the social, emotional, and cognitive development of middle school students.
  • Ability to create engaging and differentiated lessons incorporating various teaching methods.
  • Skills to establish clear expectations, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for computer science education and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

You must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida State Teaching Certification or eligibility for one.
  • Experience developing and implementing effective computer science curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Education or a relevant field.
  • Experience teaching middle school Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance learning.
  • Experience fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom environment.
