Job Purpose:

The Manager, X-Ray is responsible for the leadership of the X-Ray team and daily operations and workflow including performance reviews, coaching and development of staff, implementing strategic plans for the team. Responsible for department design, quality of work, HR related activities including hiring, budget completion, and training and coaching employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aligns work of departments with overall strategic goals of the organization utilizing teams' strength to effectively and efficiently deliver on key metrics contributing to organizational success
  • Directly manages all x-ray technologists. Provides guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for staff. Oversees performance review process; recommends promotions, and reclassifications. Provides counseling and coaching as necessary. Communicates program priorities and performance standards
  • Builds strong communication and maintains effective working relationships with administration, employees, vendors, and physicians facilitating collaboration that supports increased effectiveness and patient satisfaction
  • Monitors patient services delivery, including reviewing physician activity data and forecasting and preparing for necessary changes or changes impacted by patient volume
  • Creates annual budget; maintaining the budgeted profit and loss performance of the assigned business unit
  • Recruits, supervises, and directs staff to ensure the clinic operates in an efficient manner and that the patients receive high quality customer service
  • Plans and initiates process improvement and cost reduction opportunities; identifies and implements process development in coordination with other departments; standardizes and creates clinical operations policies.
  • Operates or oversees operation of radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes
  • Educate and facilitate training regarding radiation exposure, patient transfers and overall patient safety.
  • Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff
  • Determines patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians
  • Provides assistance to physicians or other technologists in the performance of more complex procedures as needed
  • Completes quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, and to service department
  • Collaborates with educational institutions to provide education and internship opportunities to external students

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Radiology Technologist program, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Leadership Experience Preferred
  • Previous X-ray experience in high volume facility preferred
  • Current ARRT and IEMA certifications
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft and Google suites

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Working environment is in an office/clinic setting.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Sit or stand for long periods of time, walk for periods of time, kneel, crawl, stoop, and climb stairs.
  • Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects i.e., pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder in order to operate medical equipment when needed.
  • Finger dexterity, the ability to twist hands/wrists repetitively.
  • Vision (e.g., depth perception, color vision, strong vision up close), Hearing (e.g., high pitch sounds, soft or distant sounds).
