The Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for reviewing assigned physician orders, investigating benefit information, determining if an authorization is required, and obtaining authorization as needed from insurance companies in a compliant, timely manner.

Skills needed:

• Maintain complete documentation for all cases being worked
• Clearly communicate in a courteous, professional manner with patients, physicians and medical staff regarding status of all cases.
• Provide detailed, accurate and current clinical information to insurance representatives.
• Develops effective relationships with insurance company representatives.
• Strong ability to multi-task with great attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with medical staff
• Compassionate, caring demeanor with excellent customer service skills

Experience Needed.

• Minimum 1-2 years' experience including Insurance and/or pre-certification or in a relevant role such as front desk or billing.
• Strong computer skills: ability to work in various portals, EMR, etc.
• Experience in an Orthopedic practice is a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
