Position Summary

Orr Group is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team at a pivotal time of growth. In close coordination with Orr Group’s Executive Committee, the CFO will be responsible for the financial decision-making impacting the firm and will provide strategic financial input to senior management peers. While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the CFO will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of our firm while forecasting future growth. 

Responsibilities

  • Executing the successful financial management of the firm, including forecasting and analysis of finances
  • Proactively provide insights on strategies to continue to increase the financial health of the company
  • Setting and coordinating the annual budget and determining and posting accruals
  • Ensuring that accounting systems provide timely and accurate financial information and enable strategic and tactical budgeting and enable real-time forecasting
  • Performing semi-monthly and year-end financial and cash flow forecasts with timely reporting of actual results versus budget variances
  • Ensuring bills are paid, invoices are issued, and receivables are collected on a timely basis
  • Ensuring timely and accurate payrolls and co-managing health and retirement benefits with Human Resources Director
  • Reviewing and approving check and ACH payment transactions
  • Overseeing expense report process and costs allocations
  • Overseeing time-tracking system and using data to determine staffing issues and to post “expense allocations” to clients/teams in QuickBooks
  • Annually determining Internal Rates for each staff level
  • Forecasting and managing tax liabilities, co-preparing tax forms, and executing tax payments
  • Renewing annual Line of Credit and managing bank, supplier, and other corporate relationships
  • Identifying and managing financial, legal, and operational risks and ensuring that appropriate controls and insurance policies are in place
  • Reviewing, approving, and executing legal, real estate, client, and vendor agreements
  • Serving as active member of both Executive Committee and Management Team and of Commitments Committee

Qualifications

The CFO will have at least ten years of professional experience, including managing the finances of similar nonprofit and/or for-profit organizations with budgets in excess of $10M. Prior experience working with nonprofits combined with a proven interest in nonprofit missions is required. Consulting experience is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Business, Management, or Finance
  • Professional certificates are a plus. (CPA, CFA, FTP, QuickBooks Certification, Certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting, etc.)
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development management
  • Knowledge of nonprofit and for-profit accounting, compliance, regulations, and reporting
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current financial, accounting, risk, security, regulatory, and tax issues
  • Experience with accounting software; NetSuite preferred
  • Strong business and financial acumen combined with the ability to operate tactically and to think strategically
  • Able to recommend, plan, lead, and manage change based on analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills required for sound decision making
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing efficiencies, and guiding investments in people and systems
  • Personal qualities of entrepreneurship, honesty, integrity, credibility, professionalism, and dedication
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate with senior management, staff and clients. Able to translate financial and operations concepts for colleagues without finance and management backgrounds.
  • Strong initiative combined with the ability to set priorities and organize projects. Must be a multitasker with the ability to meet deadlines and to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong people skills with experience collaborating in teams and with the ability to lead, plan and manage change. Able to influence, engage, mentor, coach, and motivate direct and indirect reports and peers with diverse levels of expertise and experience.

Additional Information

Base salary starting at $160,000 annually.
