SUMMARY
This is an opportunity to join a growing, dynamic, and responsible company that fosters the development of our employees. We are seeking a National Project Estimator. Position will be based in the Atlanta, Georgia area and role is not eligible for relocation assistance.
This role is to provide estimating and proposal support early in the capital projects for ORR Protection. The Project Estimator will work with Account Managers, Design Engineers, and Leadership to select the appropriate fire suppression, fire alarm, and/or special detection system. The Project Estimator will create a customized proposal to support the projects specific solution. A key duty for the Project Estimator is documenting the findings and decisions along the way so information can be easily transferred to the Sales Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • All team members must embody the company mission to provide protection for people, property, and the environment in all aspects of their job.
  • Attend site walkthroughs with Regional and National Account Managers (outside sales)
  • Record accurate and complete meeting minutes, site sketches, and site notes from walkthroughs and customer discussions.
  • Develop a quotation for each new opportunity.
  • Document the scope of work for ORR and the subcontractors for each opportunity.
  • Generate a system cost estimate including materials, ORR labor, subcontractor costs, and markups to a target margin for the job.
  • Generate a quote letter for the opportunity including the pricing and details about the job.
  • Work with the Account Manager and branch Operations Manager to determine final pricing.
  • Record pricing data for repeat use in estimating system - equipment pricing, common subcontractor unit pricing, and labor productivity rates
  • Perform quantity takeoffs of system drawings not produced by ORR.
  • Distribute information, drawings, and meeting minutes in a timely manner.
  • Write, distribute, and record responses to pre-bid RFI's (Requests for Information) in the project management software.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors for pricing purposes.
  • Assist with additional projects, duties, and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent education, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, fire protection systems, construction management, or business preferred.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, industry experience in fire protection, contracting, or engineering strongly considered.
  • Computer and technology skills are required, and successful applicants will show evidence of software use.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Primary work location will be at the Canton Georgia office.
  • Up to 20% overnight travel required
  • - Some travel to ORR office locations and some to customer sites.
  • This position will require frequent interaction with customers and co-workers over the phone and internet.
  • All associates are required to pass a drug screen, background check and motor vehicle report.
