  • Neurology, Emergency Department, or critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The Stroke Program, RN will work with the Patient Safety Coordinator and Stroke Program Medical Director to develop and maintain stroke program related services and activities. The Stroke Program RN will be responsible for monitoring clinical performance criteria, assuring compliance with Stroke Center regulatory requirements, and staff education and direction.

Duties

  • Coordinates the stroke program at Oroville Hospital
  • Responds to code lavender (stroke code), performs necessary stroke symptom assessment, collaborate with physicians as appropriate for care and safety of patient
  • Facilitates stroke education at community events
  • Develops on-going stroke related educational opportunities for all staff
  • Collect and analyze on-going data regarding outcomes of the stroke program
  • Maintains clinical knowledge and skills for the stroke patient population
  • Acts as clinical resource to the medical and nursing staff for care of stroke patients regardless of admitting diagnosis of the patient
  • Collaborate with Patient Safety Coordinator and Stroke Program Medical Director to suggest changes to orders, order sets and notes, according to program goals and guidelines
  • Assists in coordination of the tele-stroke program
  • Develops/maintains ongoing education opportunities for EMS/SSV staff
  • Develops and/or participates in various quality improvement activities
  • Assists Patient Safety Department with inpatient & outpatient reported measures
  • Review charts as assigned
  • Perform QA/QI projects as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Maintains up-to-date licensure and registrations, certifications and health records as applicable to position
  • Organizes and completes assigned work within established time frames

Functional Demands

Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.

Semi-sedentary: Sits and walks throughout workday

Generally lifting objects not more than 25 lbs and/or carrying objects weighing 10 lbs.
