Orlando City joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the league's 21st franchise in November 2013, becoming the first MLS team in the Southeast. The Lions began league play in March 2015. In 2019, Orlando City re-launched Orlando City B (OCB) to bridge the gap between its successful youth development academy and the First Team.

The Orlando Pride, OCSC’s National Women’s Soccer League franchise, began play in 2016 – bringing professional women’s soccer to Orlando for the first time.

TITLE: Match Operations Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Live Events

REPORTS TO: Match Operations Coordinator 

FLSA: Part Time, Nonexempt, Hourly 

POSITION SUMMARY

You will have the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and vision of Orlando City SC/Orlando Pride, understanding the importance of how a professional sports organization works (which could include sales, marketing, public relations, operations, or the internal working of the Club), to further develop general critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, communication, and writing skills.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

Orlando City SC is seeking hardworking, positive and passionate individuals who wish to supplement their classroom instruction with practical experience facilitating professional sports and live events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn/Assist with match day/event management plus the setup/breakdown of all MLS, NWSL, MLS Next Pro, and any additional home games/stadium events.
  • Assist with the execution of all requests from home team, visiting team and referees, collaborating with the venue and other departments to fill needs.
  • Learn/assist with matchday operations, match presentation and competition elements.
  • Collaborate with fellow associates to execute all event and match day operations for MLS Next Pro. Associates will learn how to maintain/execute all elements pertaining to an MLS Next Pro match, including budgeting.
  • Learn how quickly problem solve in a high-pressure environment/adapt to match day as circumstances change.
  • Create/Provide a positive/open minded work environment.
  • In addition to daily assignments, you will have the opportunity to learn and be involved with Live Events and any third-party sporting events we host at the Stadium.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of eligibility requirements, knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary:

· Applicants should be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in Sport Business/Management or Event/ Hospitality Management.

· Strong written and verbal skills.

· Exceptional reliability, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.

· An innovative individual who can come up with ideas and work extremely well within a team to come up with creative solutions and identify new opportunities, often in a high-pressure, fast-changing environment.

· Strong attention to small details is a must.

· Able to be available during non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, and within a team atmosphere.

· Strong interest in soccer and sports is a plus.

· A sense of humor is a must (prepare to tell us about a good joke in your interview).

· This role will be around 20-30 hours weekly.

· Ability to be flexible including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Other Details:

  • This role is for the full MLS, NWSL and MLS Next Pro Seasons (February – November).
  • You must be available for the full season, housed locally with personal transportation.
  • This role can be working toward an academic credit for this opportunity.
