Switch is Hiring a DCO Senior Systems Technician Near Reno, NV

General Purpose of the Position :
The Sr. Technician will work with the management team to facilitate operating and maintaining the data center. This team member is experienced in diverse industries such as electrical generation electrical distribution, cooling technologies and fire suppression systems. This team member will work to find innovative ways to keep operational costs to a minimum, within budget, and to improve efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position carries subject matter expert technical responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: first responder, support coverage, training and mentoring employees; planning, proving technical expertise, troubleshooting complex problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Responsible for and maintain 100% critical systems uptime
  • First Responder when qualified and designated
  • Train and support creation of P3 events in Ops Genie
  • Oversee and complete Tasks with safety and quality assurance in mind
  • Develop, mentor, and provide technical leadership
  • Support the creation and review of critical environment procedures
  • Understanding and utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Analyze data to assist development of a predictive maintenance plan
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with internal clients
  • Responsible for updating the list of items, maintenance plans etc
  • Well organized and disciplined in your work
  • Performing administrative and document related to work
  • Assist in authoring process, procedures, and reporting metrics
  • Act as the on-site Lead for root cause analysis activities in area of expertise
  • Qualified in all data center operation procedures or equivalent experience and training
  • Attend assigned meetings and training | Technical development of DCO Technicians
  • Assisting with assigned projects and initiatives
  • Effectively coordinate with Switch customers, both internal and external, to install, troubleshoot, and test premise equipment including but not limited to: standard datacenter infrastructure hardware such as PDU's, computers, switches, routers, optics, wireless access points, and other transport equipment
  • Performing vendor escorts
  • Interpret, investigate and remediate mission critical alerts
  • Accurately document all actions, events and corresponding time allocated for tasks

Required Job Skills :
  • Possess cognition of the impact of electrostatic discharge when applied to electronic devices and the ability to apply practical methods to mitigate static discharge events
  • Possess ability to navigate and effectively utilize ticketing systems
  • Ability to recognize and manage confidential information
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to accurately communicate both written and verbally, complex issues using easy to understand terminology
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as exceptional technical capabilities
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively with contractors installing, performing maintenance or upgrade work on systems installed in the data center environment
  • Ability to work any shift in a 24x7x365 Operation, including weekends and holidays
  • Must follow established safety practices and procedures in applicable situations and related work functions
  • Strong background in HVAC control systems and mechanical operation
  • Diverse experience of electrical and mechanical systems that may be employed in a data center environment; this may include electrical feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS Systems , DC power systems, ATS/STS units, PDU units, breakers, batteries, load bank connections, CRACs, air handling units, fluid coolers, pumps, cages, and fire suppression system
  • Document electrical engineering expertise and/or experience in the electricity profession is an advantage
  • Must be familiar with safety requirements and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings (blueprints/CAD)

Computer Equipment and Software :
  • Microsoft Suite: Must have Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Education and Experience :
Certification: College Degree in Management, Administrative, Technology Field, or equivalent experience
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 6 years' experience in production, facilities, electrical, or mechanical maintenance preferred
Physical Demands:
Local, domestic, and international travel is required when requested.
The data center is a 24 hour/7 day operation. This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure and multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. This person may be required to work extended hours during peak work periods. Team members will be required to read and understand various color codes on components, wiring and equipment. This position will require working near live electrical and mechanical equipment.
