Quality Control Assistant

Overview

Organic Filling Solutions is a private label manufacturing company located in Canoga Park, CA. We manufacture skin care, hair care, essential oils, perfumes and more.

Organic Filling Solutions is looking for a Quality Control Assistant to join our quality control team. In this role, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that all products meet our established requirements for reliability and workmanship, as well as other quality control program standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities

As Quality Control Assistant you will be responsible for making sure that our products meet a set of quality standards set forth by our clients. Your duties include examining raw materials, components and labels to make sure they meet quality expectations then assess the final product after production. Your primary role is to follow the established acceptable variation range for products and identify when something fails to meet those standards.

You then document the results of your inspections and make recommendations on how to prevent common errors or defects should a product fail to pass. You will also input and file paperwork to identify any discarded inventory or wastage from every production run. Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting output samples every 15-30 minutes using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring volume and examining weight
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with company requirements (They are using gloves, hair nets, etc..)
  • Reviewing Bill of Materials and product specifications to compare to produced goods
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports and inputting data into ERP database
  • Training the production team if necessary on correct product assembly and quality control measures to improve product excellence
  • Monitoring the use of equipment and personnel to ensure safety; ticket any faulty equipment or employees that do not meet safety requirements.
  • Reading and comprehension of the Quality Control Playbook provided for you if hired
  • Using instruments such as graduated cylinders and scales to determine if the proper fill volumes are being followed
  • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data regarding production output
  • Producing pallets in production floor and inspecting 10% of pallet to ensure it follows quality standards
  • Create labels for the master cases based on the specifications set by the client

Requirements

  • Technically Savvy
  • Comfortable using computers for all aspects of the job
  • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield) a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel and Google Drive

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in warehouse environment on concrete flooring and in varying temperatures
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of quality control measures

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience

  • 2 years of QC or line supervisory experience in a manufacturing organization
  • Experience in cosmetics, fragrance, skin care or hair care manufacturing a plus.
