The Role:

Ora's Marketing team is responsible for the design and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies to elevate the Ora brand, build awareness and engagement, and drive new business and relationship opportunities. This includes all external-facing advertising and marketing activities across all therapeutic areas around the world. Our Medical Writer is responsible for researching, writing and editing materials, including professional sales aids and asset content, educational material around Ora's R&D efforts and therapeutic expertise, and various marketing collateral with medical content. This position will also provide medical writing content for customer proposals, trade articles, website content, presentations and content summaries. The Medical Writer position will also assist in creation of scripts, training decks and patient-facing recruitment content for Ora clinical studies.

This is an individual contributor working on a team as an active partner in project planning and execution. Ora's Medical Writer will work collaboratively with department subject matter experts including Therapeutic Subject Matter Experts, Sales, Business Development Operations, Recruitment, Site Network Development, and Clinical Operations.

What You'll Do:

  • Author and compile educational material relevant to any and all ocular disease states, clinical study enrollment collateral, subject facing recruitment materials (including print and digital advertisements), other medical content for marketing materials and websites, white papers presentations and summaries to support business development.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Operations, Therapeutic Area Heads and SMEs to develop text for client proposals in support of business development sales team.
  • Review study protocols and draft patient pre-screening questionnaires for patient recruitment purposes, ensuring proper screening of inclusion/exclusion criteria and copy editing patient recruitment e-Mail and SMS copy
  • Interface with other departments (Clinical, R&D, Quality Assurance, Clinical Operations, Operations, etc.) as needed to coordinate collection of information for implementation in deliverables.
  • Responsible for communication of commitments to team members
  • Lead strategy and execution of multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Maintain chronological and operational trackers as needed as it relates to all projects on ongoing initiatives.
  • Responsibilities may differ slightly from the above based on the specific needs of the business.
  • Limited Travel, less than 4 overnight trips per year.

What We Look For:

Experience needed for the Role:

  • Master's degree in business, life science or communications, Doctor of Optometry degree, or similar
  • 3 years of medical, regulatory, or clinical writing experience or equivalent training and work experience
  • 2 years direct experience in the ophthalmic industry or with ophthalmic research

  • Ability, with little oversight, to write, edit, or otherwise facilitate completion of all documents including final reports, data summaries, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, etc.
  • Ability to analytically evaluate and interpret references in literature, and clinical and scientific data; ability to define data presentation to meet key messages developed by the clinical and therapeutic teams
  • Goal-oriented with an ability to set detailed timelines for completion of assigned projects and ensure efficient, timely completion
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organization, research, and investigative skills
  • Experience with interpretation of data, summarizing data analyses
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment; demonstrated ability to multitask and achieve deadlines and targets under time constraints
