Opportunity Stanislaus is helping Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc recruit a Facilities Maintenance Technician. 

The facilities maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance of building facilities and systems including, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed. Must have own hand tools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Perform daily preventive maintenance of equipment and systems.
  2. Complete/write work orders.
  3. Repair of facilities equipment in timely manner to limit production loss.
  4. Troubleshoot, adjust and repair facilities equipment including disassembly and reassembly as needed.
  5. Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
  6. Connect wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment to NEC requirements.
  7. Respond and repair issues in facilities to include but not limited to light bulbs or loss of power, water leaks, clogged toilets, and hot or cold temperature calls.
  8. Assist in periodic inspections of buildings and structures.
  9. May operate welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
  10. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  11. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. May perform additional responsibilities directed from management.
  2. Promote and follow Rizo Lopez policies and procedures.
  3. Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  1. Basic computer skills.
  2. Good understanding of lockout tagout (LOTO)
  3. Basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
  4. Working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  5. Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions.
  6. Ability to work with multi-functional teams and have the ability to interact positively with others.
  7. Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Strong interpersonal, communications, coaching and project management skills.
  9. Ability to speak effectively and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, blue prints, schematic, or schedule form.
  10. Know how to safely and properly use shop, hand tools and various electrical meters and testers.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. Minimum 5 years experience as an electro/mechanical technician; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  3. Experience in the following skills and a strong background in at least four areas: electrical, plumbing; building and facilities maintenance; ammonia refrigeration systems; compressed air systems; reverse osmosis systems; boilers and steam distribution systems; cooling towers; conveyers (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls); industrial controls (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.); hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders; pumps, valves, troubleshooting); packaging/high speed production; PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems; pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting); pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs); fabrication, welding, machining equipment e.g., mill, lathe etc

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university;
  2. More than 5 years experience as an electro/mechanical technician; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Experience in the following skills and a strong background in at least six areas: electrical, plumbing; building and facilities maintenance; ammonia refrigeration systems; compressed air systems; reverse osmosis systems; boilers and steam distribution systems; cooling towers; conveyers (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls); industrial controls (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.); hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders; pumps, valves, troubleshooting); packaging/high speed production; PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems; pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting); pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs); fabrication, welding, machining equipment e.g., mill, lathe etc

Work Schedule
The typical work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules and shifts are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergencies.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. The employee must wear protective clothing, safety boots, hairnet, face mask, gloves, and earplugs. The employee must frequently use computer and other special operating equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment & Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly works near moving mechanical parts, works on high voltage, near pinch points, troubleshoot machines with hot surfaces, sharp edges (knives), and/or removed guarding. The employee occasionally works in high or confined spaces and is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions. Work is regularly performed outside exposed to environmental elements or inside boiler room where the temperature varies depending on weather and season. The employee is also regularly exposed to airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. Employee should read the warning labels for information and instructions. Rizo Lopez maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as required by law on hazardous products. SDS’s are kept at the office for review by employees. The employee occasionally works in high or confined spaces and is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
