UCT  is looking for an experienced Sr. Manager of Materials to join our team in Hayward, CA!

Job Summary:

UCT is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Materials Manager to join our team in Hayward, CA! The primary function is the execution of engineering material planning, purchasing, inventory control, and returned engineering materials disposition processes to support production requirements to meet customer need dates. This role is responsible for developing engineering resources to meet department objectives, financial performance measured against department budgets and inventory, operational performance measured against strategic/tactical objectives, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all engineering materials functions related to master planning, technical sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management. 
  • Develop and provide technical engineering second source supplier solutions.
  • Provide technical advice/recommendations for the suitability of engineering materials.
  • Oversee engineering material quality control processes.
  • Utilizing engineering best practices, develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to track the performance of buyers and planners in meeting UCT goals & objectives.
  • Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet engineering build requirements, while maintaining acceptable inventory levels to meet all published targets.
  • Develop material schedules and plan requirements for purchasing engineering materials, using MRP and other planning systems to ensure continuous supply of materials to support business objectives.
  • Work closely with Customers to expedite customer requirements.
  • Work closely with customers and other UCT sites to transition engineering materials for new products.
  • Work closely with internal groups, including engineering, quality, and sales to ensure functional specifications are met, parts are available as needed, and product quality is maintained.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates staff members to ensure the efficient operation of materials-related functions.
  • Develop key supplier relationships to ensure continuous supply of material.
  • Responsible for responding to escalation and resolution paths for all engineering material shortage issues.
  • Have the technical/engineering background and knowledge of MRP (SAP) to support the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong engineering management, leadership, and organizational skills in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP applications (SAP preferred) and MS Office Suite

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • APICS/CPIM certification preferred

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • 5 - 10 years of relevant management experience, with significant materials-related technical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience in low mix, high complex, and configurable product

Management Experience (for people manager job only):

  • 5 years of proven strong team-building and employee development experience

The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $117,900 and $188,600/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, the employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
