POSITION SUMMARY: This position will maintain, develop, implement and conduct training and development programs to support employees, managers and to the Human Resources department itself within assigned areas of responsibility under the general supervision of designated Manager. Primary responsibilities include administration of training and performance management, and other projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities)

  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with leadership and employees. Organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees.
  • Delivers and maintains unique training programs to fulfill workers' specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Manages annual Performance Management Program
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Maintains learning management system (LMS) and HRIS to ensure accurate assignment of courses by role and accurate recordkeeping of completion of coursework
  • Partners with IT and LMS vendor to keep LMS and HRIS systems in synch
  • Performs other related duties as required.

JOB SCOPE :

This job is performed with considerable flexibility for initiating improvements and exercising independent decision making within the assigned work area. The position is expected to adhere to established procedures as they may be required by law and/or company policy. Independent judgment is used in scheduling and accomplishing work, handling conflicts, analyzing alternatives and maintaining recordkeeping systems. The work is performed with limited supervision and necessitates the coordination of priorities and schedules of a number of other employees and/or co-workers.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

The position is expected to interact with employees at all levels throughout the company as well as with customers, the public and others encountered in the course of the work.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written for constant interaction with all departments and employee levels and outside customers.
  • Must have the analytical ability to define problems, perform research and create effective solutions.
  • Must have ability to use PC and software applications such as MS Office, Excel, SharePoint and data base programs such as HRIS and LMS
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Performance Management concepts
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow through tasks to completion.
  • Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects.
  • Must be willing to take initiative.
  • Must be a well-organized, detailed and customer (internal and external) oriented self-starter.
  • Possess the ability to quickly learn processes, procedures and applications utilized in performing the job responsibilities.
  • Knowledgeable of the proper usage of English, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate is required.
  • Associate's Degree in business or other field related to the assigned department is preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Human Resources and administrative support work is preferred.
  • Combinations of the experience and training that would provide the knowledge and skills required will be considered.
  • Experience with Performance Management is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the facility. There may be times where the individual will be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. The incumbent must be able to walk to and from job sites. Also, the person may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. On occasions the incumbent may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. There may be the need to travel locally up to 5% of the time and/or out-of-town (including air travel). WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While in production areas, the individual will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
