Position Overview: The Compliance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation across international operations. This multifaceted position requires a deep understanding of both legal principles and compliance regulations within various jurisdictions. The individual in this role will collaborate closely with legal teams, executives, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that uphold legal standards while facilitating business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• International Registrations:

• • Support the registration process for OUR Rescue in various countries, ensuring compliance with local regulations and requirements. This includes preparing and filing registration documents, coordinating with local legal counsel, and maintaining accurate records of registrations.

• Organizational Compliance:

• • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations in the jurisdictions where OUR Rescue operates.

• • Conduct regular reviews of organizational policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices.

• • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.

• • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern.

• • Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations, and adapt compliance strategies accordingly.

• • Respond to compliance inquiries and issues, providing guidance and support to internal teams as needed.

• Document Management:

• • Maintain an organized repository of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate records. 

• • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including finance, human resources, and program management, to provide legal support and guidance on various matters. 

• • Serve as a resource for colleagues seeking legal advice or assistance on international issues.

• Research and Analysis:

• • Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of international legal topics, including corporate governance, tax-exempt status, and intellectual property rights. 

• • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations that may impact OUR Rescue’s operations.

• Training and Education:

• • Develop and deliver training sessions and materials to educate staff members on legal and compliance-related matters, promoting a culture of compliance and risk management within the organization.

Qualifications:

• • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field; additional certifications or coursework in international law or compliance preferred.

• • Proven experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in a non-profit or international setting.

• • Strong understanding of international legal principles and regulations, with experience in international registrations and compliance highly desirable.

• • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

• • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

• • Proficiency in legal research methods and tools, with experience using databases such as LexisNexis or Westlaw preferred.

• • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
