Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Our primary objective is to move people toward self-sufficiency by helping change the circumstances and life patterns that have held them captive to poverty and addictions. Through 18 distinct programs,we focus on tangible needs like food, shelter, access to education and employment training, as well as intangible needs such as friendship, hope, and Christian spiritual guidance. Job Title
Youth Assistant Director/ODF Youth Pastor
Supervisor: Youth Director
Hours: Full-Time Position (start date in August, 2024)
Salary: $20.94/hour - $32.63/hour
Job purpose
The Assistant Youth Director exists primarily to serve youth at ODM but also to provide continuity between our children’s and teen ministries. The position is a key component of the Youth Center, offering faith based educational support, active participation in the local school and summer programming for middle school and high school students.
Duties and responsibilities
● Co-facilitate the Youth Drop-in Center – Morning and Evening.
● Lead Open Door Fellowship Youth Ministry on Sunday Mornings. This includes weekly attendance, connecting with existing ODF youth, and building a bridge between ODM and ODF youth ministries
● Participate and lead weekend youth activities as scheduled with the ODM youth Director to connect students to the ODF church community.
● Maintain and build positive relationships with students and their parents
● Assist in Youth Group activities - Teaching, leading small groups, planning worship response, planning games, and driving students’ home.
● Develop mentoring relationships with students and mentor through Save Our Youth
● Partner with other staff members to transport kids from school
● Assist in planning and execution of weekly programming, retreats, summer and winter camps/trips
● Be actively involved in maintaining a partnership with the Learning Center
● Maintain up to date enrollment information for all students
● Participate in Youth staff meetings
● Create a culture of honor and affirmation with the students
● Attend ODM monthly staff meetings
● Attend ODF Pastoral Meetings
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Experience with youth in either ministry or school setting
● High level of computer & communication skills
● Ability to be flexible and learn quickly
● Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Work Environment and Physical Demands
● Work environment is both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor activities can be in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow or high temperatures
● This job involves sitting, standing, walking, and running
● This job regularly involves moving up to 25 pounds
