Job Title: Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift

Location: Stokesdale, NC

Schedule: Sunday - Friday morning from 11pm - 7:30am

On July 7th, Ontex will be transitioning to running 24-7

The new schedule will be 7pm - 7am, 2-2-3

Division: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose

  • The maintenance technician ensure the smooth operation of the machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform regular services and maintenace procedures and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.

Job Description

The maintenance technician ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems and production machines: following diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance duties on the production equipment as needed to assure that down time is kept to a minimum.
  • Perform PM as required in schedules
  • Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance
  • Perform repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric and hydraulic.
  • Identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner
  • Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery
  • Use variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
  • Maintain a schedule for inspection, service and testing of machinery
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and regulations
  • Training others

Teamwork and Communication:

· The Maintenance Tech will work with the Maintenance Manager, machine operator and engineers to ensure the machines are performing a standards.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills

Working Safely (i.e. not cutting corners or taking risky short cuts; being alert to an unsafe situation; being thoroughly knowledgeable about safety guidelines and equipment; being thoroughly trained with lock-out procedures).

Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Being able to recognize a problem and find the root cause through a logical repeatable process; being able to quickly think through a problem and come to a solution: being able to check things out systematically to find out what the problem is and why it has occurred.

Striving to Do Well: Being a person who can be depended on to carry out a quality job; feeling accountable and having ownership; striving to do well; taking pride in the quality of your work; willing to improve personal skills and knowledge as warranted by ever changing technologies.

Taking Initiative and Structuring Work: Taking the initiative when you recognize something needs to be done. being able to decide which activities need your attention first; structuring your time so as to get all the things done that need to be done; skillfully setting priorities to make the best use of your time; planning the steps in a job and organizing tools and resources accordingly.

Effective Under Pressure: Able to function well in stressful situations; maintaining effective and consistent performance while under difficult circumstances.

Working Well with Others: Getting along well with co-workers and members of other teams; having good working relationships with others in the area; being able to communicate well; working well with others of different race or gender. Practice Servant Leadership.

Technical Reading and Using Resources: Being able to read and understand technical materials, such as training manuals and vender instructions; using materials to collect information necessary to troubleshoot and solve a problem.

Educational requirements: The Maintenance Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.

Prior experience: The Maintenance Technician must have two years related experience.

Technical skills:The Maintenance Tech must have mechanical and computer skills. They must be technically inclined and be able to properly utilize tools and machinery.

Physical Requirements: The ability and willingness to perform light to moderate lifting of raw materials and machine components up to 55 lbs. The ability and willingness to stand 100% of time and walk in the production facility. Adequate hand and finger coordination to manipulate small parts. Adequate vision and color perception. Minor stooping, bending, sitting, reaching and crouching as needed to inspect finished product and materials.
