POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coach (Part-Time)
REPORTS TO: Content Coordinator
BEGINNING DATE: Open Until Filled
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience in working with teachers/administrators/families
Knowledge of and/or the aptitude to learn the Onslow County School System’s Instructional Framework
Effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of effective technology usage and immersion
Ability to work with highly diverse populations
Ability to survey, compile, and deliver research-based and high quality professional development in strict alignment with the district and school plans
Ability to assist families and staff in providing appropriate educational opportunities for children
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and assignments
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Valid North Carolina teaching license
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months (Part-Time)
SALARY: Teacher Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Model the design, implementation, and evaluation of lessons in classrooms on a consistent basis
Teach, model, and facilitate research-based best practices aligned to standards that engage students and improve outcomes
Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches
Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with district initiatives
Provide instructional support (and relevant technical support) to collaborative teams for implementation of effective data teams and professional learning communities
Assist teachers with the collection and analysis of student, classroom, and standards data results
Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate instructional materials and assessments that directly support and align to the NC State Standards and the North Carolina Essential Standards
Meet regularly with PLC teams and administration to report on instructional practices and progress while also planning “next steps” for student and school improvement
Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, the selection of best practices, and use of high-yield strategies to meet the needs of students
Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide cognitive coaching/feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success
Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs
Utilize adult learning theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice
Participate fully in ongoing professional development to extend instructional competencies in all content areas
Perform other duties and responsibilities related to instruction in all content areas as assigned by supervisor
Improve student and teacher performance in targeted areas as identified through data-driven changes in teaching practices
Serve as a liaison to facilitate and connect with district resources.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time
Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely
Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull
Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally
Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills.
Must be able to visually and orally communicate with staff and students
Must be able to drive to variety of school sites
Must work indoors and outdoors year-round
Must work in noisy and crowded environments
