Onslow County Public Schools is Hiring an Exceptional Children Data Manager for the 2024-2025 School Year Near Jacksonville, NC

POSITION TITLE:Exceptional Children Data Manager (Office Support III)
REPORTS TO:Director of Exceptional Children
BEGINNING DATE:Open Until Filled
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Highly proficient in the use of technology and a variety of computer application software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to plan, organize, and prioritize variable tasks effectively
  • Able to compose, compile, and summarize data
  • Able to facilitate processes to ensure accurate data and timely data collection
  • Able to problem-solve and think creatively about challenges
  • Able to identify trends and patterns to make recommendations for efficient and effective process
  • Have excellent grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading skills
  • Interact positively, communicate well, and use discretion in confidential matters
  • Exercise good judgment, take the initiative, be flexible, and work with minimum supervision
  • Display a customer service focus
 
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Related Associates degree preferred;
  • Or a High School graduate with a minimum of 5 years of related clerical and computer experience
  • Extensive experience in an office environment with responsibility for a large variety of complex tasks
  • Background in Exceptional Children Services, PowerSchool, and/or ECATS desired!
 
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
 
SALARY: Salary Grade 59
 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Collect information, evaluate data, and submit accurate local, state, and federal reports in a timely manner.
  2. Enter and report data with speed, accuracy, diligence, and constant attention to securing confidential student information.
  3. Work with Medicaid reimbursement second party vender (Infohandler), NC Student Information System (PowerSchool), NC Exceptional Children’s Data Management System (ECATS), and other programs needed to support the collection of required data.
  4. Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate personnel. Provide immediate assistance when possible.
  5. Cross train with other Exceptional Children Services support personnel (finance, records).
  6. Enroll or assist with enrollment of non-public school students.
  7. Assist with ensuring district’s program is consistent with state mandated criteria.
  8. Assist school-based personnel in implementing standards and operating procedures established for management of student data.
  9. Prepare and maintain a variety of computer databases pertaining to student records, activities, and demographic information for multiple programs and projects.
  10. Assist in establishing and enforcing standards, policies, and procedures for student information management system.
  11. Collaborate with related service personnel to collect student service logs, treatment calendars, and plans of care to ensure service to students and to submit accurate data for Medicaid Reimbursement.
  12. Assist with community events, parent meetings, and staff development functions.
  13. Complete other duties as assigned by director with professional team attitude.
  14. Gather data for federal grant working with Impact Aid.
  15. Process RPFs and maintain contracts for related services.
  16. Maintain database of contract companies and rates.
  17. Complete other duties as assigned with professional team attitude.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, walking.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
  • Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
  • The ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills in English.
