Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE

As a senior accountant, this individual must have a firm understanding of accounting principles including balance sheet accounts, income statement accounts, and an understanding of accounts payable processing. The individual must have a close attention to details and be able to communicate clearly through written documentation and presentation of data.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, and other duties may be assigned)

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on operational and financial information.
  • Complete assigned tasks related to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing schedules.
  • Maintain general ledger information and prepare financial statements for multiple companies.
  • Responsible for monthly and interim draw process.
  • Responsible for communication with vendors about payment schedule and delinquent payments.
  • Responsible for communicating with Accounts Payable Department for payments to vendors.
  • Maintain invoice email folder. 
  • Responsible for correspondence with banks on debt funding.
  • Review Staff Accountant input data for draw process.
  • Review and analyze pre-acquisition spend. 
  • Reconcile draw spreadsheets to the general ledger. 
  • Responsible for accounts payable for multiple companies, including monthly interest payments.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly insurance reports.
  • Integrate newly formed companies into company portfolio by setting up systems, reporting, and creating non-recurring journal entries.
  • Responsible for correspondence with bank on debt funding.
  • Maintain partnership income and investment entries quarterly.
  • Responsible for annual property tax payments.
  • Create a draw review process with forecasts of final costs. 
  • Assist with gathering information for insurance audits.
  • Assist in reviewing federal and state tax returns.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must have a clear understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, and interpretation of financial statements, as well as an understanding of tax accounting and reporting, and must be very organized, and detail oriented.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university. 
  • Two years’ experience in a staff/senior accounting position. 
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA eligible preferred.
