Key Responsibilities:
The Digital Technology Senior Manager of United CARGO E-Commerce is a key technical role in the CCCTO- Revenue Systems portfolio and will be responsible for defining and executing technology strategy for building, maintaining, and modernizing UnitedCargo.Com and related Cargo e-commerce sites and initiatives. There are multiple subsystems and vendor products in the Cargo Digital ecosystem, this role will be key to helping implement product strategy with Cargo business, software vendor teams and United Digital Technology teams. The portfolio covers modern web solution architecture demonstrating the latest frameworks and engineering including software standard methodologies, with a view of continuously improving the United Cargo eCommerce digital experience for our Cargo customers.

This position reports to Director- IT Application Development - Revenue Systems.

Approximately 10% of travel required for this position.
  • Partner with the Cargo E-Commerce product and Cargo business team to define United Airline's Cargo E-Commerce strategy
  • Lead, build and motivate a dedicated team of E-Commerce technology professionals providing vision, direction and guidance.
  • Optimize the experience on UnitedCargo.Com and other Cargo portals to improve conversion and increase repeat purchases
  • Analyze and assess the effectiveness of all existing operations and current/future needs based on new technology and market competition
  • Develop and complete a sustainable model to enable the continuous improvement of UnitedCargo.Com and other Cargo portals from both technology and product perspectives
  • Review end-to-end architecture of UnitedCargo.Com and other Cargo portals in partnership with the Enterprise Architecture team, jointly recommending a new and long-term sustainable architecture for the web site, and plan and deliver the new technology architecture for United Cargo
  • Identify and apply proven techniques and tools to improve the overall quality and engineering pace of delivery of new product delivery
  • Develop, report on and continuously improve KPI's by enhancing our site monitoring and optimization capabilities to make sure application is performing at the highest level for the best customer experience
  • Partner with the Infrastructure and Enterprise Architecture teams to jointly design, develop and activate the cloud strategy for United Cargo to enable sustained very high global availability and performance of the site
  • Accountable for administrative management of IT professionals, either as direct reports or sourced - HR administration, Salary administration, Time Reporting, budget, etc.

  • Experience in application development platforms and/or languages including Node.js, REACT, JavaScript and demonstrating industry standard design patterns/practices
  • Experience with Cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and monitoring tools (Datdog, AppDynamics)
  • Experience in version control system such as Git, and agile project management tools e.g. AzureDevOps (ADO) and Jira
  • Knowledge of DevOps and/or continuous deployment and/or integration process and tools (Harness, Github Actions, Teamcity)
  • Knowledge of application modernization approaches
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
