About you and this role

This role will support multiple manufacturing operations and labs by conducting laboratory analyses and evaluating results, as needed, thus providing critical data. Prepares samples and performs basic calibration, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and methods. Uses data systems to acquire data and monitor analytical system performance. Reports results to clients. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. Act as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Display professionalism and influential leadership skills among peers. Promote effective communication between self and peers, leadership, and stakeholders. Demonstrate ownership of actions and activities for which you are responsible. Be a champion for safety.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine analyses.
  • Collects samples according to the Sample Plan.
  • Prepares basic calibration standards.
  • Performs basic calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems.
  • Utilizes statistical tools to assist in the validation of data, applies basic statistics, interprets results, and takes appropriate action.
  • Monitors analytical systems, identify problems, conducts first-line troubleshooting, and escalates as appropriate.
  • Documents, communicates, and archives analytical results and calibration data.
  • Follows EH&S and operating discipline management system (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.
  • Suggests improvements to lab work processes and tools.
  • Escalates non-routine requests to the appropriate team member for follow-up

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one or more of the following:

  • Associates degree or higher in a science discipline is required. In lieu of a degree, Dow will consider those with three or more years of relevant military experience.
  • 3 or more years of industrial lab experience.

Also, Required

  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with chromatography and lab information data systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry or another field of science.
