Description of Measurement Technician

Our company is looking for a Measurement Technician to join our team! In this position, you will be responsible for confirming the accuracy, reliability, and optimization of client measurement systems. Your role will include managing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of a variety of measurement instruments critical to our client processes.

Measurement Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calibration, testing, operation and maintenance of crude oil, propylene, ethylene, and refined products measurement instruments.
  • Measurement instruments will include, but are not limited to, flow meters, positive displacement meters, rotary meters, turbine meters, ultrasonic and orifice meters, flow transmitters, samplers, regulators, valves and actuators, transmitters, and automated tank gauging equipment.
  • Maintaining detailed records of maintenance, repair, and calibration activities, including dates, findings, and actions taken.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of measurement instruments.
  • Communicating effectively with clients to understand their specific measurement needs and address any concerns or requests they may have regarding instrument performance or reliability.
  • Ability to work in safety-sensitive environments and comply to client and contractor Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required.

Measurement Technician Requirements and Experience:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a valid TWIC card.
  • Experience with the measurement of vapor/gas and refined liquid products (crude oil, gasoline, diesel and jet fuel).
  • Knowledge of calibrating measurement equipment.
  • Experience with installing conduit, tubing, low voltage wiring, and instrumentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with OMNI flow computers.
  • Experience with Siemens Maxum Analyzers.
  • Experience with Rosemount Transmitters.
  • Meter proving experience.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule—weekends, nights, and callouts are possible - (9/80, or 80 hours of work in nine days with Fridays off every other week)

Field environment requirements:

  • Include standing, walking, climbing and/or balance frequently.
  • Include stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling frequently.
  • Include working in safety sensitive environment often near mechanical components.
  • Can include exposure to adverse weather (fumes, cold, wet, hot, humid).
  • Visits to industrial/refining settings can include risks of exposure to radiation and vibration, toxic chemical and/or electrical shock.
