Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

Location: Birmingham, MI – Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 (Range applies to US candidates only) Benefits/Variable Comp/Equity - Range may vary based on experience.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to join the Accounting team. This person will be responsible for the research and documentation of significant and non-routine transactions. You will be partnering with all aspects of the business to ensure accurate and timely technical accounting reviews of proposed transactions, draft contracts, and updating accounting policies. You will also be leading accounting standard adoption and performing the accounting for complex business transactions. This position will report to our Manager, Financial Reporting.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform accounting research and review technical accounting memos related to non-routine transactions.
  • Strategically partner with leadership to ensure alignment of direction and financial decisions.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, Tax, and other stakeholders to understand, analyze, and provide support for complex accounting matters.
  • Monitor regulatory trends, providing guidance and documentation on technical accounting decisions from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
  • Review new Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) issued by the FASB and assist with implementation as needed.
  • Evaluate current accounting practices and policies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to the external reporting function, ensure financial statements and disclosures adhere to accounting principles generally accepted in the U.S. (U.S. GAAP).
  • Prepare and review required quarterly and memos and analyses in support of external audits.
  • Work closely with external auditors, resolving any technical accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Review new or amended contracts and related accounting impacts.
  • Oversee and/or participate in special projects as needed.
  • Organize and lead training sessions on accounting topics as needed.

QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA and/ or MS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 4 years of experience in accounting and/ or public accounting.
  • Public accounting experience working on publicly traded companies (Big 4 firm preferred).
  • Experience with SEC reporting and technical GAAP research and analysis.
  • Must have comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with Corporate Performance Management (CPM) tools (OneStream preferred).
  • Experience with Business Combinations accounting and integration activities a strong plus.
  • Experience working with a SaaS business a plus.
