Description

Job Summary: 

As the Director of the Medical Oncology, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the center, managing personnel and administrative functions. Your responsibilities include coordinating patient care, staff relations, customer service, quality assurance, financial performance, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with leadership teams at Oneida Health and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to ensure seamless operations and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain optimal scheduling practices in collaboration with clinical and clerical staff, monitoring efficiency and patient waiting times.
  • Participate in the selection, orientation, and training of reception, nursing, Medical Office Assistant (MOA), and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) staff to ensure high performance levels.
  • Monitor billing compliance, investigate revenue enhancement opportunities, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Maximize clinic utilization and operating schedules, adjusting as necessary to meet patient demand and center needs.
  • Foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment among staff to meet patient population needs effectively.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and collaborate with staff to develop and review plans for ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Ensure service hours align with patient and referring provider needs.
  • Develop systems to facilitate prompt and professional referral receipt, monitoring referring provider satisfaction as part of quality improvement efforts.
  • Promote customer-service directed behaviors among staff and support staff development activities to meet expectations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and monitor budgets, identifying strategies to maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop optimal staffing patterns considering service levels, skill levels, and budget constraints, adjusting staffing as needed.
  • Maintain operational flexibility to meet marketplace demands.
  • Implement and maintain operational and technical policies, procedures, quality assurance programs, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in educational programs, stay updated on current literature, and conduct/participate in in-service meetings and workshops to enhance professional growth.
  • Prepare required written documentation and maintain records, reports, and statistics as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with standards set forth by the New York State Department of Health, the Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Attend meetings and perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of management experience in practice settings (required).
  • Oncology experience (preferred).

Licensure:

  • License in the medical field (required).
