One Place Family Justice Center is Hiring a Grant Writer Near Montgomery, AL

Job Title: Grant Writer

Reports To: Executive Director

Status: Contract worker – typically 24 hours per week

Direct Reports: None

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for building and managing a grants office within One Place Family Justice Center (OPFJC) needed to diversify funding streams so that the public health and safety mission of OPFJC continues as an ongoing concern. Grant prospecting, writing, reporting, and auditing are essential duties of the position. OPFJC’s grant office will seek funds from all levels of government as well as family, private and corporate foundations. The individual is expected to leverage OPFJC and their professional contacts to build a network of support within the philanthropic community.

Major Responsibilities:

· Develop an understanding of the OPFJC’s mission, history, structure, objectives, programs, logic model and financial needs.

· Oversee the administration of the OPFJC’s grant program from research to close out.

· Research concepts, ideas and approaches for grant applications and programs, carry out prospect searches to identify funding opportunities, prepare written summaries describing opportunities for review and approval by the Executive Director with input from the Directors of Programs and Administrative Services.

· Write grant applications for submission aligned with the strategic objectives of OPFJC and in accordance with funding guidelines, generating a minimum of 25 renewal and new proposals annually.

· Work with finance department and other key team members to produce accurate grant budgets which cover operating, overhead, and sufficient revenues to foster sustainability.

· Develop cost allocation model that strengthens OPFJC finances, ensures proper program implementation, and participates in securing grant modifications as required.

· Serve as an OPFJC liaison with grant funders and prospects making presentations and building relationships. Initiates discussions with grantors when applications are declined to enhance future opportunities.

· Review grants for compliance with requirements and assists with internal and external audits.

· Collaborate with the Director of Administrative Services to ensure appropriate record keeping of grant expenditures, performance metrics, and audit preparation.

· Establish and maintain grant files and information systems to monitor grants throughout the grant life, to provide responses to information requests, and to ensure reconciliation between the OPFJC and grant partners as needed.

· Research, analyze data, and compile written and statistical reports as needed.

· Monitor grant reimbursement requests to ensure that reimbursement vouchers are prepared timely, accurately and paid.

· Edit and review outbound written materials for consistent messaging, and brand positioning including the newsletter, op-ed pieces, website contents, press releases and key presentations.

Other Duties:

· May be assigned related duties that arise from time to time.

Qualifications

· A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or related background.

· A minimum of five years’ experience in fund development or advancement with success grant prospecting, writing, reporting as well as achieving annual goals. Practical experience with federal and state grants preferred.

· Self-directed, results-oriented professional able to work under pressure.

· Knowledge of federal grants and victim services are a plus.

· Strong computer skills with excellent knowledge of fund development software and Microsoft Office suite.
