A facility is Rome, NY is looking for a MS/Telemetry (MS/Tele) nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) and New York State (NYS) license required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred. Must have minimum 2 years of current experience. Travel experience preferred. Floating to MS is required. Every Other Weekend is required. Must have strong IV skills, confident working with cardiac drips, reading EKG strips, and all types of wound care. NIH Stroke Cert with the additional 8 hours of CEUs REQUIRED BEFORE START ***FACILITY MAY OFFER LOWER RATE IF CAREGIVER IS WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS***

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:

• 13-week assignment
• Start Date : ASAP
• Unit: MS/TELE
• Schedule: 07:00 PM-07:30 AM

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 2 years of recent & relevant experience as an RN
• Rome, NY RN License
• Must have BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Med Surg

* Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.

* Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.

* Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.

* Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.

* Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements.

* Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.

* Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team.

* Answering questions and educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.

* Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records.

* Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

Telemetry

* Studying patients' medical history, test results, and treatment plans.

* Tracking routine heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements.

* Monitoring, interpreting, and recording data from specialized medical technologies and equipment.

* Administering medication and performing treatment interventions in consultation with healthcare specialists.

* Maintaining and updating ward charts, patient files, and medical records.

* Instructing Telemetry Unit staff on patient care and treatment plans.

* Collaborating with healthcare specialists and reporting changes and deteriorating conditions.

* Explaining tests results and procedures to patients and their families, as well as answering questions.

* Advising patients on post-hospital care, including prescribed medicine, home care protocols, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
