We are hiring a Lead Data Engineer to support our corporate Information Technology department which works in partnership with our portfolio companies.

Position Summary :

Reporting to the VP of IT, the Lead Data Engineer will play a major role in running daily IT operations and leading new projects. This position is onsite and located within the corporate office in Irving, TX. This individual will work with various teams and divisions across the US & Canada to support aggressive growth and IT targets.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organization’s Data Engineering team.
  • Manage and delivering on multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Maintain active relationships to understand business requirements, lead requirement gathering meetings and review designs with the product owner
  • Perform technical design reviews and code reviews
  • Deep knowledge of Python, Spark best practices and commonly used modules based on extensive work experience and creating self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components
  • Responsible for prototyping, developing, and troubleshooting software in the user interface or service layers
  • Perform peer reviews on source code to ensure reuse, scalability, and the use of best practices
  • Participate in collaborative technical discussions that focus on software user experience, design, architecture, and development
  • Keep up to date with technology and apply new knowledge
  • Github, Jenkins, Gitflow, Github Projects
  • Snowflake, DBA
  • Experience with technical project documentation
  • Manage and work with onsite/offshore teams and help the team in finding solutions.
  • Ability to follow established coding standards, enhance them and ensure implementation team members do the same.

Desired Professional Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering
  • 7 years of experience
  • Relational and NoSQL database experience is required
  • Reporting experience is required (Jet, Power BI or Tableau)
  • Strong ETL experience and programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Java or Python
  • This individual should be from a development background in data engineering
  • Hands on Data Engineering experience
  • Microsoft Azure certifications
  • AWS certifications
  • Snowflake Certification
  • Previous success as a manager (or technical lead) on diverse aspects of complex projects
  • Experience managing deliverables with onsite and offshore teams
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, relying on experience, research, and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
  • Someone who has a strong familiarity working in hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environment to implement enterprise data workloads
  • Experience implementing data archival strategy
  • Strong complex problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage time effectively
  • Proven written and oral communication skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Seven years or more of related experience.
