Oncology Social Worker - Cancer Center, Sequim, Per Diem, Day Shift

JOB SUMMARY:
The Oncology Social Worker works closely with the multidisciplinary team to identify oncology patients needing psychosocial support. Works in tandem with patient navigator to identify and remove barriers that may interfere with successful adherment to oncology treatment plan. Address the complex care needs of patients who are at risk of adverse outcomes due to limited resources, the difficulty of navigating the systems of care, or other psychosocial complexities as needed and appropriate. The Oncology Social Worker performs mental health assessments, evidence-based interventions cognitive function screenings, crisis interventions, safety planning, and/or other appropriate interventions to patients with psychosocial needs. The Oncology Social Worker will be responsible for developing oncology support groups, participate in Survivorship Program, and the Cancer Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education required.
Experience
• Experience with screening for common mental health disorders preferred. • Minimum of five years experience in the health care field preferred. • Minimum of two years social work experience in oncology preferred.
Licensure/Credentials
• Clinical Social Work license for the State of Washington is required. If not present at time of hire, must be obtained within one year of employment. • Washington State Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) certification preferred. • Affiliation with the Association of Oncology Social Workers preferred.

You can also use the PTO PSL bank just like you use your PTO bank (meaning you do not have to be sick to use this bank).
  • Extended Illness Bank
    • Accrues based on hours worked, equivalent to 4 days per year for a full-time employee (pro-rated for part-time). Maximum of 480 hours allowed in bank. Accrued time may be used to cover illnesses beginning the 4th scheduled consecutive day of work missed due to illness.
