Reports toPlumbing Lead 

Summary/Objective

This Journeyman Plumber will coordinate and schedule plumbing projects. This position installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and service work for a diverse portfolio of industrial, office, and retail properties. This position uses independent judgement to resolve various plumbing issues on a daily basis. This position consists of plumbing service work and new construction. 

Essential Functions 

  • Assist in delegating tasks and work orders to the plumbing team.
  • Collaborate with and advise management team to identify and address plumbing and HVAC system issues. 
  • Assess the state of the plumbing systems and determine the source of leaks, tears, blockages, corrosion, and weather damage in water and HVAC features.
  • Use specialized knowledge and training to repair and maintain plumbing and drainage systems.
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventative and routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems to determine malfunctions.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on new plumbing installs and/or building equipment which may include mechanical/HVAC/electrical/plumbing systems.
  • Maintains and repairs plumbing systems carrying water, stewam, chemicals, and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating and other process piping systems.
  • Operate various heavy equipment such as forklift and boom lift.
  • Operate various equipment such as cutting torches, threading machines, grinder, beveling machines, and round-up clamps, electronic camera, and augurs.
  • Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools and equipment is a safety-conscious manner.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, ream, and install pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Repair and maintain pipes, valves, gutters, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and industrial structures.
  • Install and repair drinking fountains, water heaters, boilers, chillers, sinks, faucets, and lavatories according to ADA and code enforcement standards.
  • Repair issues in water and HVAC systems.
  • Performs gas piping and testing.
  • Read and follow building plans and blueprints.
  • Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.
  • Ensure structures are in excellent working condition upon completion of each project.
  • Ensures that the jobs performed are done in a cost-effective, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Obtain PO numbers for materials and supplies.
  • Communicates with Dispatch and other teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel 

Some travel is required. Most travel is local to the Memphis area. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the local plumbing team. 

Work Environment

  • This job requires working in commercial spaces including but not limited to industrial, warehouse, and office environments.
  • This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very hot to very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This may include confined locations.

  • Regularly requires sitting, walking, bending, and lifting for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands feet and fingers to handle or feel objects and must be capable of bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Able to handle or feel objects and use tools and equipment and must be capable of bending, reaching, crouching, climbing and crawling.
  • Must have command of all five senses sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds

Required Education and Experience 

  • Driver’s license
  • Journeyman’s license
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools and other equipment used in the plumbing trade.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings.
  • Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper.
  • Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements. 

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a journeyman plumber. 
  • Leak detection experience.
  • Backflow certification.
  • HVAC knowledge.
  • Boiler experience.
  • Threading pipe. 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Must be able to legally work in the United States. 

Working Hours 

A typical workweek is forty (40) hours per week. Your supervisor will determine your work hours. During peak times and seasonal extreme weather-related events, position may require long hours.
