OLD SALEM INCORPORATED is Hiring a Baker Near Salem, NC

We are seeking a skilled and creative Baker to join our team. As a Baker, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually appealing pastries and desserts. You will work closely with the Bakery Manager to develop innovative recipes and ensure the quality of our pastry offerings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a strong understanding of different pastry techniques. If you have a keen eye for detail and are committed to delivering exceptional pastry items, we would love to hear from you.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designing and improving recipes.
  • Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
  • Decorating and displaying finished products.
  • Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
  • Keeping records relating to deliveries, inventory, and production levels.
  • Taking client information and ensuring that deliveries are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
  • Manage needed supplies and inventory levels.
  • Assess the quality of raw materials before baking.


ADDITIONAL
DUTIES:

  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Follow OSMG policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Proven experience as a Baker or similar role
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques and ingredients
  • Strong creativity and ability to innovate
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend, and holiday availability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is performed in a kitchen environment and therefore involves moderate risks and discomforts requiring special safety precautions. Kitchen equipment such as ovens and carts must be used with special care and attention to maintenance and safety.
  • Ability to work in a hot, hectic environment; stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances; and lift heavy items for extended periods.
