Old Republic Risk Management is Hiring a Vice President - Information Technology Near Brookfield, WI

Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) is currently seeking a VP - Information Technology to join its Information Services Team at its company headquarters in Brookfield, WI. ORRM provides primary casualty insurance products to corporate and group insureds with complex risks. A pioneer in the alternative risk market since 1985, ORRM delivers innovative solutions and services that offer unparalleled flexibility to insurance program design and structure.
In general, the Vice President - Information Technology is responsible for the design, development and implementation of organizational information systems, software applications, and IT support and infrastructure systems. In addition, this person is responsible for identifying emerging technologies to analyze, assimilate, and integrate within the organization.
Essential duties for the role are as follows:
  • Lead information technology functions, including operations, hardware, and software and coordinate the development and maintenance of state-of-the-art technology in data processing, both mainframe and PC-based.
  • Provide leadership and sponsorship on key application development and technology projects to support the company’s long-term goals.
  • Provide strategic direction for the migration of legacy systems to future state.
  • Design and control the hardware and software environment related to the mainframe and its attached networks for local and remote sites. Implement problem determination procedures necessary to minimize system unavailability.
  • Design, implement and maintain various communications networks, both local and remote, to ensure user access to system function and data.
  • Develop and monitor department-specific compliance procedures; assist with the Company’s adherence to the current Sarbanes-Oxley Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework.
  • Supervise direct reports, make recommendations for performance management and disciplinary action. Train subordinates to achieve goals. In addition, contribute to the new employee selection process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a related Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, and a minimum of ten years of progressively successful managerial experience in an information services environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working as a VP Information Technology requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. This position also requires proficiency in the use of computer systems. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
This position is responsible for managing risk, resource allocation, project prioritization, and research and recommendation of new systems and software products with an emphasis on cloud technologies.
This position requires demonstrated supervisory and/or project management skills. This position requires one to lead change and inspire innovation. In addition, this position requires the use of strong interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others.
This position requires strong information technology skills and the ability to direct a wide variety of functions. This is a position of influence, where rational and conduct must be representative of a professional leader within the organization.
This position requires occasional travel by use of motor vehicle, public transportation, and/or airplane.
