Olam Food Ingredient is Hiring a Human Resources Manager - Food Manufacturing Plant Near Deming, NM

Candidates with a permanent address more than 50 miles from worksite are eligible for relocation. This is a full-time on-site Plan HR Manager role in Deming, NM.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Regional Director of HR, the HR Manager will provide leadership and guidance to manufacturing facility on all aspects of Human Resources including, but not limited to staffing and organizational design, compensation, employee relations, management/employee training and development, policies and procedures, safety, security, health and diversity. The ideal candidate for this position will be flexible, resilient, and will thrive in a developing workspace. They should be energetic and passionate about the field of Human Resources. They must be able to manage multiple hands-on tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic business partner with plant leadership to evaluate the state of human resources by identifying opportunities for improvement, developing and executing a strategic vision for the HR function in the plant.
  • Provide support to assist the plant in achieving both functional and key performance objectives.
  • Drive employee engagement to maximize safety, manufacturing, quality and goal attainment.
  • Prepare and maintain job documents, job evaluations, requisitions interview forms and offer letters among other recruitment forms.
  • Responsible for recruitment process that includes to advertise (internally/externally), post, recruit, screen, coordinate and execute interviews and hire qualified candidates to maintain appropriate staffing levels. Maintain applicant and hire tracking.
  • Administer and process terminations, exit interviews, final check preparation and other off-boarding activities.
  • Ensure timely completion of unemployment claims and appeals and attend hearings.
  • Administer and explain benefit programs ensuring employee understanding. Work with Corporate office to resolve any claims/processing issues. Serve as liaison between insurance carriers and employees.
  • Act as the primary HRIS system administrator. Ensure all promotions, transfers, adjustments, etc. are processed correctly and timely.
  • Coordinate leave of absence administration. Work with leave administrator to coordinate and monitor all leaves.
  • Implement and align HR initiatives to the business strategy which includes the ability to identify, analyze, understand, and articulate business goals and objectives at the company, plant and business unit level.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory activities, including but not limited to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).
  • Provide direction and oversight of employee relations issues to ensure processes are well structured to maintain a fair and equitable workplace.
  • Coach managers/supervisors on employee relations issues to enable them to address employee issues directly at the floor level.
  • Manage consistent execution of compensation programs including merit, bonus, and promotional counseling. Develop and maintain good relationships with universities, colleges, trade schools, employment agencies and other community partners to meet recruiting demands.
  • Educate and assist management on salary administration and performance management.
  • Provide career planning and development counsel to employees and managers.
  • Drive staffing processes including sourcing strategies, interviews, job offers and orientation.
  • Receive and review employee complaints and ensure accurate and timely documentation of concerns or issues. Facilitate actions to document and resolve employee issues, escalating as needed to appropriate management team. Measure staffing effectiveness including turnover analysis and action planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of Human Resources Generalist experience is required.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and experience in employee relations is required.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Manufacturing or Agriculture HR experience is preferred.
  • Key Leadership Competencies and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills are required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team across many geographies is required.
  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Ability to work independently with multiple demands and timelines is required.
  • Must be able to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • High level of integrity, trust, and ethics are required.
