Position Summary

Reporting to the QA Supervisor, the QC Technician plays an important role in maintaining the highest standard for Food Safety, Quality and Legality. These functions take place in the plant production process and quality lab areas.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and can learn and perform basic lab tests using company provided instruments.

Position Responsibilities

  • Completes product Brix analysis.
  • Performs consistency testing using a Bostwick method.
  • Performs texture testing using a Force Transducer machine.
  • Performs pH meter calibration and pH testing.
  • Chlorine monitoring testing using concentration strips.
  • Complete quality inspection records.
  • Install and review chart temperature recorders.
  • Performs product temperature monitoring using manual thermometer device.
  • Complete Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) production line inspections.
  • Performs can/jar product headspace evaluation.
  • Performs can/jar vacuum testing using manual vacuum gauge.
  • Performs can visual seam and can coding examination.
  • Performs jar seal security testing.
  • Performs Acid% testing using titration method.
  • Performs Salt% testing using salt meter device.
  • Performs Solids% testing using solids machine.
  • Complete the Metal Detector process verification.
  • Complete Optical Sorter process verification.
  • Complete Food Radar process verification.
  • Product defects monitoring (rot, foreign material, color, seeds %, cut size).
  • Complete product fill weight, net weight, gross weight and drain weight.
  • Performs Raw Ingredients visual inspection.
  • Complete scale calibration verification.
  • Complete manual thermometer calibration verification.
  • Performs production line start up and line change over inspection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
  • Must have ability to perform tasks in a chemistry lab, using chemicals for testing.
  • Must have knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Must have knowledge of Good Documentation practices.
  • Must have ability to read, analyze and write reports.
  • Must have ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and committed to quality mindset.
  • Must work well under pressure and be highly responsive to short deadlines.
  • Having 2-3 years in an analytical role in consumer products is a plus.
  • Having food manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Be able to work in a light industrial and somewhat warm environment during summer or cool areas during the winter.
