The Distribution Systems Manager has overall responsibility to direct and oversee the installation, operation, code compliance, maintenance, and repair activities of the Energy Services Distribution Systems shops, which include Utilities Distribution, Electrical Distribution and Utilities Locating, on the Stillwater campus. Utility systems under this responsibility include:
Electric distribution (medium voltage, overhead and underground), outdoor lighting (low voltage, pole-mounted and ground-mounted), steam, chilled water, hot water, natural gas, domestic water, sanitary and storm sewer systems.
The Distribution Systems Manager:
Provides overall leadership and direction to the Distribution Systems Organization’s supervisors and work units. Actively engages ongoing, open communications between subordinate supervisors to create a unified, integrated approach to maintaining and operating University utility systems. Actively engage ongoing open communications and support between peer managers to create a unified integrated approach to fulfilling the mission of Facilities Management and Energy Services.
Works with supervisors at ensuring team members are well trained and prepared for safe and swift emergency response during utility outages. Oversees all preventive, planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance activities, and ensures timely completion of utility locate requests through the Okie ONE CALL system.
Ensures appropriate asset information is collected and stored within the ArcGIS mapping system for proper asset management, effective operation and maintenance of the systems, and for input into multi-year CAPEX planning. Ensures that training is identified and provided for safety, skills, and leadership development for Distributions Systems staff.

Due to communication expectations of the position, the employee will be required to maintain a personal cell phone and will be required to be continually available during and after normal working hours. Must be able to respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Requires working some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies and may require work during non-business hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and other times when the University is closed.
Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. Required to work safely and promote a safe environment. 
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, FR clothing, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use. Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment.
Can often be dirty, wet, dusty, and noisy and occurring in the outdoor elements, day or night. Work involves periodic exposure to uncomfortable and hazardous working conditions, both indoors and out, such as rotating equipment, heavy loads, electrical circuits, pressurized steam, and environmental hazards such as asbestos, chemicals, vapors, fumes, natural gas, and refrigerants.
Work can occur in confined spaces and involve hot and cold temperature extremes. Aerial work can involve high voltage applications. Exposed to extreme heat and cold, working around hazardous equipment. Outside in all types of inclement weather, high levels of dust and noise. 
This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
