Oklahoma State University is Hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Cello Near Stillwater, OK
Greenwood School of Music, Oklahoma State University Stillwater, OklahomaThe Greenwood School of Music seeks a qualified cellist to build and sustain a successful cello studio and play an active role in the recruitment and retention of cello majors, as well as collaborate with colleagues in the advancement of the string area. The candidate will be expected to teach applied lessons in cello including a weekly studio class. The teaching assignment will also include coaching chamber music, as well as an upper-division or graduate-level independent study course in pedagogy and repertoire, as needed. Additional teaching assignments may be in general education or in an area of the candidate’s expertise. This is a one-year, non-tenure track position, with possibility of renewal. Qualifications: Doctorate or ABD and applied teaching experience at the university level required. Experience in chamber and orchestral performance desired. Strong pre-collegiate teaching record and ability to work with a diverse population preferred. Rank and Salary: Visiting Assistant Professor. Salary with benefits commensurate with qualifications. Beginning date: August 2024 Oklahoma State University (25,000 students at its main campus in Stillwater) is located approximately 65 miles from Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Greenwood School of Music has thirty-six full-time and thirteen part-time faculty members and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
