Honors Teaching Assistant Professor

The Honors College at Oklahoma State University is seeking to hire a Teaching Assistant Professor with an academic specialization in a STEM field or K-12 STEM education. While all job responsibilities will be within the Honors College, the person hired will have an academic home department as appropriate for their degree area.

This position carries responsibilities in teaching, advising, and administration. The new hire will teach two courses (3-hour honors seminars) per semester, with flexibility to design courses within their areas of specialization. The new hire will also carry an advising load within the Honors College, assisting students with enrollment and mentoring them on their progress towards the honors awards and degree.

The new hire will join a staff team committed to high quality K-12 outreach programming. The new hire will assist in various capacities with organizing and directing our programming, particularly in STEM areas, such as regional, invitational, state, and national meetings of the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair (OSSEF), the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS), and Science Olympiad.

This is a nine-month, 3-year renewable position, with the possibility of additional summer employment to assist with New Student Orientation and Enrollment. The preferred start date will be August 2024.

Required Qualifications:

PhD., Ed.D, or ABD on track to complete the degree, in a STEM field or in STEM Education

Strong teaching qualifications and experience, and evidence of teaching excellence

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with K-12 STEM education, educational programming, and/ or outreach

Participation in an honors program or college as a student. Honors award, certificate, and/or degree from an institution affiliated with the National Collegiate Honors Council

A record of student advising or mentoring

Recognition of scholarly achievement by election to Phi Kappa Phi or Phi Beta Kappa
